FBG Boomer is reintroducing the real and raw to the new age landscape of Hip Hop. With OG status in the game along with the lyrical dexterity and personality to influence multiple generations to come, the Freebandz Gang member is showcasing his vision as a creative and an artist. He is one of those rare and elite breed of rappers that is marketable to the mainstream, but who also crafts timeless music that doesn’t alienate their underground fanbase. FBG Boomer is steadily earning a place in the pantheon of legendary talent that precedes him.
During his early years, life for the Ohio native, who was primarily raised by his grandmother, resembled a coming-of-age hood drama. Growing up, the Midwestern native was shuffled between residences in Middletown and Dayton being that his mom was involved in street activity and his dad was in prison. Besides his grandmother, who gave him the nickname “Boomer,” music was the only thing that provided some stability and joy for the young wordsmith. FBG Boomer’s first word was tape, an abbreviated way of saying cassette tape. In middle and high school, he would beatbox in between classes and during lunch in the cafeteria; music was a constant companion. As a teenager, FBG Boomer gravitated towards the style of Kriss Kross and the sound of Tupac. He was into fashion trends but he was also surrounded by neighborhood politics, which exposed him to violence, drugs and heartless leadership. Those collective experiences turned him into a young savage. It’s the reason why his rhymes are laced with raw complexity, but are also full of heart and real life wisdom. Over the years, FBG Boomer has invested his time, energy and talent into his craft. In 2011, it all paid off when he did a show in Columbus, OH and ended up linking with Atlanta rapper Rocko. They collaborated on song and video. That connection lead to an introduction to Future, which lead to FBG Boomer opening up for the wizard’s Honest Tour along with Meek Mill in 2014. After that, Boomer was crowned as an official Freebandz Gang (FBG) affiliate and added the title to his stage moniker. He went on to record songs with DJ Esco, Future’s DJ as well as Casino and Freebandz Test.
Despite his passion for rap, FBG Boomer eventually ended up following the example his parents set forth and served jail time. While behind bars, the versatile spitter continued to improve his bars and upon being released picked up right where he left off; switching his hustle from the streets to music. His new project, Hot Topics, poetically reminds some and informs others about who he is, what he stands for and his legendary status in the industry. FBG Boomer delivers confessional style storytelling on top of quality beats that speak to his struggles in the hood as well as in relationships. Hot Topics is a well-rounded body of work with features from southern and northern artists that display the true spirit of hiphop.
In addition to being behind the mic, FBG Boomer is also behind the desk as the CEO of Quiet Money entertainment, his Ohio-based record label that currently boasts a roster of 8 artists. His entrepreneurial spirit continuously gives back to the culture, which helps to feed the streets that raised him. Taking his career as well as his imprint to greater heights, FBG Boomer is repeatedly making things happen in ambitious ways however this time with a new perspective and resolution.
